Nookkin.com Mobile

If you've ever used a mobile internet device to access Nookkin.com, you probably have noticed that it is a sub-optimal experience. With the ever-increasing popularity of such devices, I decided to create a mobile variant of my site. As of today, Nookkin.com is available in mobile and desktop variants.

When you use a mobile internet device – be it an iPhone, Windows Mobile smartphone, or even a basic prepaid phone with mobile web support – to access Nookkin.com, you will appreciate the change. And better yet, you don't have to do a thing to see the mobile-optimized version. Your device will be detected through its user-agent string and the mobile version will be served up automatically.

Don't like the mobile version? Simply click the link at the bottom of the page to switch views. Alternately, you can append ?v=desktop to the current page's URL to force desktop view, or ?v=mobile to force mobile view. The chosen view will persist, as long as your device supports cookies.

Here are some shots of the mobile site in action. Note that due to the small size of the screen, the content requires scrolling down.

Since I developed this mobile version entirely on my own, including the browser detection algorithm, there may be cases where you accidentally get the mobile site on a desktop device (or vice versa). Please report this via the comment form below or the website contact form, so that I can fix the issue. Be sure to specify your device's user-agent string (you can find it by visiting http://nookkin.com/aboutme.php from the device in question).

What do you think of the mobile design? Love it? Hate it? Please drop a comment below and tell me what you think!

I love this idea Nookkin! I know you worked very hard on it to make it work properly on both the Smartphone and the iPhail (Whoops, i meant iPhone...or did I? :D)

Not many people will fully be appreciative of this awesome addition, but you always know I will be appreciative of this. I actually was thinking how cool it would be if there was a Nookkin.com mobile as I was on my brother's phone a while back.

I know I will be using this a lot when (hopefully) I get my new phone.

Thanks and great job on it! :D

Thanks, Jacob.

The iPhone's browser is actually designed to render things like a desktop browser, thus not having a mobile site isn't such an issue. Internet Explorer in Windows Mobile, on the other hand, looked far worse, since it's not designed to render like a desktop browser.

I did run into a few pitfalls when designing it, but in the end it worked out great.
